Azzad Asset Management, a leading Islamic wealth management and financial planning firm, today offered condolences to the family and loved ones of Muslim scholar and former Shariah Advisory Board Member Dr. Mohamad Adam El-Sheikh, who passed away on April 14th.
Dr. El-Sheikh was a prolific writer and lecturer, sharing his insights on legal issues facing Muslims in the West. His scholarship was marked by a profound understanding of Islamic jurisprudence, or fiqh, and a commitment to contextualizing legal rulings within the realities of today’s society.
Born in Sudan, Dr. El-Sheikh’s pursuit of mastery in the disciplines of fiqh and theology took him across the globe. He finally settled in the United States where he became a founding member of what is known today as the Fiqh Council of North America. He later served as one of the original members of Azzad Asset Management’s Shariah Advisory Board.
“We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Mohamad Adam El-Sheikh,” said Azzad founder and CEO Bashar Qasem, CSAA. “He was a luminary and scholar who helped advance the cause of Islamic finance in America, but more importantly, he was a brother and friend. Truly we belong to God and to Him we will all return. May He grant Dr. El-Sheikh mercy, forgiveness, and eternal peace in the highest ranks of Paradise.”
Dr. El-Sheikh leaves behind a legacy that will guide generations to come.
